Supporting Every Transition
Growing Through Every Transition
As your child grows, they’ll be ready for new opportunities, greater independence, and new experiences. At St. Joseph’s Indian School, we carefully prepare students for each transition so they feel confident, supported, and ready for what comes next.
Because our homes are organized by grade level, students move into a new home after third grade, sixth grade, and eighth grade. While these changes can feel exciting, they can also be challenging. Our caring staff helps your child adjust to new houseparents, make new friendships, and build the skills they need to thrive in their new environment.

Each transition is designed to match your child’s stage of development. Younger students practice everyday life skills like getting ready on their own, doing laundry, and keeping their room organized while building confidence and positive relationships with their peers. As students grow older, they take on greater responsibility through increased independence, expanded privileges, and opportunities to strengthen decision-making, time management, and leadership skills.
By the time your child enters high school, they’ll be prepared to manage many daily responsibilities independently, including organizing schoolwork, following routines, and preparing for life after graduation. Throughout every step, our staff provides guidance and encouragement while helping students build confidence through experience.
Planning for the Future
Our Transition Specialist helps students begin exploring the many opportunities available after high school. Through college and trade school visits, career presentations, and other hands-on experiences, your child can discover their interests, set goals, and begin planning for a successful future.
The support doesn’t end at graduation. Whether students continue their education, begin a career, join the military, or pursue another path, St. Joseph’s Indian School remains part of their journey. Our Transition Specialist continues to provide guidance and encouragement, reminding every graduate that they will always be part of our St. Joseph’s family.
