How We Support Every Child
At St. Joseph’s Indian School, every child is unique. That’s why we build on each student’s strengths while surrounding them with the care, guidance, and opportunities they need to grow. Through our Strengths-Based Approach and Circle of Care, we partner with families to help students succeed academically, emotionally, physically, spiritually, and culturally.
Every Child Has Strengths
Strengths-Based Approach
This approach comes from social work, but it can help your family in so many areas of life. We focus on what your child does well, the resources you have, and your family’s ability to bounce back, especially when things get tough or life changes.
We don’t just look at challenges. We help your child and your family see the strengths, talents, and unique qualities you already have. We like to say that we glance at weaknesses and focus on strengths. Helping your family discover and use these strengths is what we care about most. It’s also why our staff loves being part of the St. Joseph’s Indian School family.

Our Circle of Care
Educating the Whole Child
At St. Joseph’s Indian School, your child will be welcomed into a caring community that brings together Catholic faith and Native American traditions. We celebrate your family’s culture, support your child’s needs, and help them grow in every way. Our team partners with you to build resilience, encourage lifelong learning, and nurture your child’s mind, body, and spirit. Here, your child will find a place to belong, where their heritage is honored every day.
Six Ways We Support Every Child
Our Circle of Care is built on six important parts: Culture, Residential Life, Education, Health and Wellness, Spirituality, and Counseling Services. Each one is here to help your child succeed and feel supported every step of the way.
Culture
We celebrate your child’s Native American heritage by learning and practicing language, ceremony, dance, and many other traditions together.
Residential Life
We work closely with your family to help your child build life skills and grow as a person. Here, your child will learn the values of belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity.
Education
Your child’s learning comes first. We use different ways to teach so your child can discover a love for learning, build good habits, and grow in faith and culture.
Health and Wellness
Your child’s health matters to us. We offer care right here on campus and help your child get any special care they might need.
Spirituality
Founded by the Priests of the Sacred Heart, our spiritual philosophy is to provide students with a rich foundation in Catholic faith and Native American tradition upon which they can draw for a lifetime, finding Tuŋkášila in all things.
Counseling Services
We’re here to support your child. Our counselors help students become strong, confident, and ready to handle life’s challenges.
