Our Students At A Glance

200+ Students Each Year

More than 200 students in grades 1–12 call St. Joseph’s Indian School home each year. Our on-campus elementary school includes one first-grade classroom and two classrooms for each grade from second through eighth. High school students live in campus homes while attending Chamberlain High School.

Representing Many Communities

Students come from more than 30 communities across South Dakota and neighboring states. While many students are from reservation communities, approximately 35% come from towns and cities located off reservation.

Honoring Diverse Tribal Heritage

Our students are enrolled members of more than 10 tribes, with most identifying with the Lakota, Dakota and Nakota nations. Their cultures, traditions and experiences help shape the vibrant community found at St. Joseph’s Indian School.
