Alumni
For more than 100 years, over 7,000 students have called St. Joseph’s Indian School home. When you attend St. Joseph’s, you become part of our family—and you’ll always be one of our alumni.

Part of Our Family for Life
At St. Joseph’s Indian School, we believe every child who becomes part of our community will always belong. Families choose our school for many different reasons—whether they’re seeking a safe place for their child, a strong education, opportunities to connect with Lakota culture, or support during a challenging time. No matter how long a student attends, they become part of our Thiyóšpaye, our extended family.
That’s why we proudly consider every former student an alumnus. Whether your child is with us for one year or many, they’ll always have a place in the St. Joseph’s Indian School family and a community that continues to care about their success.
Our alumni have gone on to make a difference in countless ways—as educators, healthcare professionals, artists, military service members, tribal leaders, business owners, and community advocates. While each journey is unique, they all share a lasting connection to the friendships, values, and experiences they found at St. Joseph’s Indian School.
Distinguished Alumni
Every spring, we honor a member of our alumni family with the Distinguished Alumni Award. This special recognition goes to someone who has made a real difference by serving their tribe, community, nation, St. Joseph’s Indian School, or by living out our mission.
