St. Joseph’s “Lakota Stars” Receives Special Recognition
St. Joseph’s Indian School’s Integrated Marketing Department is celebrating special recognition of its recently released public service announcement (PSA), “Lakota Stars.” The PSA is the winner of two Silver Telly Awards, one in the category Promotional Video: Public Service/PSA and one in the category Promotional Video: Not-for-profit. There were only ten silver awards in each of these categories. The more than 12,000 entries for the entire Telly Awards program came from all 50 states in the United States and five continents.
Executive Director of Development Kory Christianson remarked, “St. Joseph’s Indian School is honored to accept these awards on behalf of the resilient Lakota children in our care. Receiving national recognition for the quality educational programs offered on our South Dakota campus is humbling. We are most grateful for the families who entrust their children to our care and the faithful donors who fund this important work. Educating Native American children and sharing their beautiful culture remains our priority for the future.”
The marketing team worked with 1stdegree Marketing & Public Relations to script and create the PSA using footage shot by St. Joseph’s and partner organization Native Hope. The PSAs highlight the school’s students, parents and programs, telling the St. Joseph’s Indian School story to a national audience.
Telly Awards Executive Director Sabrina Dridje said, “This year’s submissions doubled down on what we already know about the industry. Creativity cannot be stopped. Collaboration will always prevail. New ideas and stories will always find a way to break through to an audience.”
The Telly Awards was founded in 1979 to honor excellence in local, regional and cable television commercials with non-broadcast video and television programming added soon after. The Telly Awards annually showcases the best work created within television and across video, for all screens. Telly Award winners represent work from some of the most respected advertising agencies, television stations, production companies, and publishers worldwide.
