Summary of Position
The Auto Technician is responsible for maintenance and repair of automobiles, trucks, heavy equipment, and lawn
equipment belonging to St. Joseph’s Indian School. This is a nonexempt position.

Reports to the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor

Responsibilities
1. Repairs, overhauls, and maintains automobiles, trucks, buses, heavy equipment, lawn equipment, and other
maintenance equipment.
2. Analyzes defective equipment to determine cause of problem and proceeds with repair in a professional
manner.
3. Operates proficiently, welding and automotive repair equipment.
4. Documents services performed on each vehicle, recording pertinent information.
5. Reports unreported damage to Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor.
6. Capable of operating heavy equipment during construction projects.
7. Monitors and maintains fuel and fluid levels in fleet vehicles daily.
8. Performs other responsibilities as required by the Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor.
Qualifications
High School Degree or equivalent
Experience required
Computer proficiency necessary
Valid South Dakota Driver’s License
Physical Demands
Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 30 lbs.
Occasionally exerts up to 50 lbs. of force.
Regularly bends, stoops, and crouches.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
Must have the capability to apply oneself physically over long periods of time.
Uses the abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly over time without becoming
fatigued.
Position requires working outdoors in summer and winter.
Expectations of Hours Worked
40 hours/week and on-call as required
