If you look at photographs of our campus in 1927, you see the typical grounds of a Federal institution – an orderly landscape that reinforced the regimented lifestyle of Chamberlain Indian School. That was the initial lifestyle of St. Joseph’s Indian School for many decades. Today you find a much different landscape. A walk or drive through campus shows a more personal, open landscape, one that reflects the more personal and child-centered program we offer today.
In addition to Residential Life’s vigorous training program for houseparents that helps to ensure a structured approach to home living, additional programs and resources support the fine care that houseparents provide.
These beliefs guide our approach to our students’ care and formation: Recognition of the dignity of all people as created in God’s image.
