Summer and Break Homes
Summer and break homes accommodate students in first- through eighth-grades who require additional assistance with education or other factors. In June and July, days include summer school, recreation and short trips. They enjoy activities in the Chamberlain community, as well Break homes take place over Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and spring breaks for students for whom travelling home is not an option.
High school students working on campus or in the local community stay in the summer high school home. On-campus jobs include working as a summer home assistant in the younger home, being a camp counselor for Rising Eagle Day Camp, helping custodial staff in the school and participating in community service.
In addition, through one of our World as a Classroom opportunities, selected applicants from the high school program attend Germany where they learn about other cultures, present to German students about the Lakota culture, learn about travel abroad and sightseeing in other countries.

The high school program also opens a sports home towards summer’s end for students returning early to be involved in practices and games at Chamberlain High School.
