Recently, NorthWestern Energy’s Key Account and Economic Development Specialist Paul Mantz and Community Relations Manager Tom Glanzer were in Chamberlain, S.D., at St. Joseph’s Indian School. The pair presented a check for $10,000 for renovations to the school’s Recreation Center. While on campus, they saw first-hand the need to upgrade the facility that serves the school’s 220 students, its staff and their families. In addition, they had a first look at the plans for the Recreation Center expansion.

They also enjoyed a spin around campus to learn more about the programs and services the school provides. The extra time spent getting to know St. Joseph’s and its work was intentional.

“The mission of St. Joseph’s Indian School aligns with NorthWestern Energy’s commitment to the communities we provide service to,” explained Mantz. “The community work we do is supported by NorthWestern Energy employee volunteers who care about the people we serve and want to demonstrate that supporting special projects such as this one.”

The school’s President Mike Tyrell accepted the check.

“We appreciate the support from NorthWestern Energy,” said Tyrell. “This facility is central to campus life, and were it not for the fact that most of our students are home for the summer, Paul and Tom would have seen the beehive of activity that it is during the school year. NorthWestern Energy’s generosity will go a long way toward improving the health and wellness efforts provided through this facility.”

In addition, Tyrell commented on how vital the Recreation Center is to student well-being and happiness during South Dakota’s long, cold winters.
