As President, Schill will serve as spiritual advisor and be responsible for the integration of the mission, beliefs and values into all aspects of the work of the Priests of the Sacred Heart in South Dakota, including St. Joseph’s Indian School. He is a member of the Priests of the Sacred Heart provincial council for the United States.
Schill entered the Priests of the Sacred Heart community in 2003 and was ordained a priest in 2011. Before being appointed Chaplain at St. Joseph’s Indian School in 2021, he served six parishes in Northern Mississippi for 10 years. Schill also served four years in the United States Marine Corps.
Robyn Knecht has been named Executive Director of Child Services to succeed Renner-Meyer. Along with Kory Christianson, Executive Director of Development, Renner-Meyer, Schill and Knecht will work collaboratively as the management team leading St. Joseph’s Indian School. Together this management team has a combined 76 years of service to St. Joseph’s Indian School.
Appointments will be effective in August 2025 following the retirement of president, Mike Tyrell. He served St. Joseph’s Indian School for 40 years, starting as a houseparent with his wife Kim. He also directed human resources and child services before being named President in 2014.
