St. Joseph’s Indian School Earns Reaccreditation

Posted on: February 1, 2023

A recent announcement by Social Current confirmed that St. Joseph’s Indian School is reaccredited through a process conducted this past fall by the Council on Accreditation (COA). St. Joseph’s has achieved accreditation since 1995. The new four-year accreditation extends through February 28, 2027.

“Accreditation by an objective, independent organization validates that St. Joseph’s meets high performance standards to ensure the best quality services are provided to the students and families with whom we partner,” explained President Mike Tyrell. “In addition, the process challenges us to stay current in our dynamic and ever-changing field.”

The Final Accreditation Report made special note of the culture of safety and extensive staff training at the school. “We complete more than 860 documents to provide evidence of meeting 11 rigorous standards,” noted Executive Director of Child Services Jennifer Renner-Meyer.

During an on-site visit, COA conducts interviews with staff, trustees and clients and researches to confirm adherence to the COA standards. Renner-Meyer said that areas scrutinized during the process include ethical practice; financial management; governance, administration and management; human resources; performance and quality improvement; and risk prevention and management.

This is the first year that news of the reaccreditation came from Social Current. Social Current is the result of a recent merger between the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and the Council on Accreditation. The merger brings together thousands of social-sector leaders creating a broad, multifaceted and larger network to contribute to the reach and influence of the human and social services sector.
