St. Joseph’s Indian School marked the conclusion of its winter sports season with an awards ceremony at the school’s recreation center, recognizing student-athletes in boys and girls basketball, archery and gymnastics.

A total of 79 students participated in the 2026 basketball season, including 45 boys and 34 girls in grades four through eight. The program provides opportunities for students to develop athletic skills while emphasizing teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.

Student-athletes from both the boys and girls basketball teams were honored for their performance throughout the season, with awards recognizing leadership, effort and improvement.

“The coaches said they were proud of me for trying, that my shooting was good, and they wanted that on the court during the games,” said Jamisha Medicine Crow, an enrolled member of the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe and recipient of the eighth-grade Coaches’ Choice award.

Medicine Crow said the season also helped her grow personally.
